MRI

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) produces detailed images of the organs and tissues in the body. The scanner itself resembles a large tube with a table in the middle, allowing the patient to slide in. There is very little preparation required, however, individuals who are anxious or nervous about enclosed spaces should tell their doctor. Often they can be given medication prior to the MRI to help make the procedure more comfortable.

At Bayside Imaging, we offer the following MRI scans at varying locations:

  • MRI with/without IV Contrast
  • MRI Breast Only
  • MR Angiogram (MRA)

Uses

The following are examples in which an MRI scanner would be used:

  • Brain and spinal cord
  • Tumors or cysts in varying parts of the body
  • Breast Cancer screening for women who face a high risk of breast cancer
  • Injuries or abnormalities of the joints, such as the back and knee
  • Certain types of heart problems
  • Diseases of the liver and other abdominal organs
  • The evaluation of pelvic pain in women
  • Suspected uterine anomalies in women

Please note: The use of MRI is expanding in scope and use and the list above is not exhaustive of all.
